Gerry has created one of the largest in-depth portfolios on
rainforests and the people, plants and animals that inhabit
them. Of those images, his temperate rainforest work from the
coastal forests near his home on the Pacific Coast of North
America, are his most personal. In the 1990's, after nearly a
decade of award-winning photography of tropical rainforests,
and publishing work in numerous books and articles, Gerry
returned home to find his own rainforests in deep peril. He
began concentrating more time and effort photographing the
forests of his youth. An initial book resulted, America's Rainforest.
Frustratingly, he feels these forests still have not been
photographed in their most revealing light, and continues to
re-examine what next path to take in this lifelong journey to
discover and photograph this disappearing environment.
